FAQ

Why is there no map in checkout, and can buyers choose a different point?

The app shows buyers a list of the nearest pickup points, based on the shipping address. In the settings, you can decide how many points buyers see - from 1 to 6.

Why a list and not a map

The app adds shipping options through the Carrier Service API - the same Shopify mechanism that carrier rate calculators use. Shopify displays options added this way only as a list of shipping options, so a map can’t be added in this model. In return, the app works on any store with Carrier Calculated Shipping and doesn’t slow down checkout.

Do buyers need a map?

Most don’t. In our other app, Atlas Pickup Points, buyers can choose between a map and a list. In data from 21 September to 1 October 2026 for InPost lockers in Poland:

  • about 95% of buyers picked a point from the list, not the map,
  • over 60% chose the nearest locker,
  • about 9 in 10 chose one of the three nearest points - so showing three is usually enough.

Fewer than one buyer in twenty uses the map, and even fewer on a phone - where the vast majority of orders are placed. Those who do use it often pick a locker far from the shipping address, for example near work.

How to choose a point somewhere else

If a buyer wants to collect the parcel in a different area, they have three options:

  1. Change the shipping address to one near the preferred pickup point and select that point.
  2. Add a note to the order.
  3. Contact the store after placing the order.

It’s worth suggesting the first option directly in checkout, for example with the notice: “If you’d like to select a different pickup point, change the shipping address to one closest to the desired pickup point.” See: How to add information when selecting a shipping option?

If many of your customers pick points far from their shipping address, or you simply want a map in checkout, have a look at our other app, Atlas Pickup Points. It works differently and shows both a map and a list of pickup points - see how the two apps compare.
